History

Orchestra Horo was established at the beginning of 1962. It was founded as a part of dancing group "Naiden Kirov" - Ruse. Orchestra Horo has created more than 300 folk dances and folk songs during that period of time. All of them are now on air, be it on the Bulgarian National Radio or the public radio stations. The Orchestra has toured in France, Japan, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Israel and many other countries. It has been chosen for the Orchestra of the year, according to listeners' votes, for two consecutive years in 1993 and 1994. The Orchestra has participated in more than 50 TV shows. It also takes part in the New Year's eve TV shows of the Bulgarian National Television almost every year. Orchestra Horo is a laureate of many world youth folk festivals, such as the one in Sofia in 1968, in Berlin in 1973 and the one in Moscow in 1985. Orchestra Horo won first price in the biggest World Folk Festival "Songs and Dances of the World" in Paris in 1999.

About Orchestra Horo Ruse

Liubomir Nedelchev Hristov He was born in 1966 in the town Rousse. He has been interested in folk music since he was 10. He is a graduate of the music school "Prof. Veselin Stoyanov" and majored in accordion. He has been a member of "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" since 1986 and presently he is its leader.

Tzvetan Georgiev Banev He was born in 1965 in the town of Rousse. He has been interested in folk music since he was 11. Mr. Banev started playing accordion but later on learnt to play guitar and took singing classes. He has been a guitarist and vocalist of "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" since 1993.

Stoyan Nachev Stoyanov He was born in 1969 in the town of Veliko Tarnovo. He graduated from a music school in 1988 and majored in clarinet. Mr. Stoyanov used to be a member of orchestra "Chanove" and ensemble "Naiden Kirov" - Rousse before joining "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" in the year 2000. He has recorded 3 albums with "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" and is playing saxophone and whistle.

Stoyan Yordanov Yordanov He was born in 1966 in the town of Rousse. Mr. Yordanov started playing guitar at the age of 12. He used to work in folk ensemble "Naiden Kirov" - Rousse before joining "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" in 1993. He is currently playing drums.

Yavor Minchev Yordanov He was born in 1965 in the town of Rousse. He has been playing guitar and tambour since he was 10. He is a graduate of a 3-year guitar school. Mr.Yordanov has been a member of "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" since 1986.

Dimitar Nikolov Hodgev He was born in 1947 in the town of Zavet. He used to play violin but later on took guitar classes. He has been a member of "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" since 1979 and is currently its vocalist and guitarist.

Ivailo Iliev Petrov He was born in 1938 in the village of Slivo pole. He was dealing with music for the last 45 years. Mr. Petrov plays accordion. He is one of the founders of "Orchestra Horo - Rousse" and has been a member since its founding in 1962.
